Our definition of a Manufacturing Execution System
What is a Manufacturing Execution System - MES?
A Manufacturing Execution System (MES) is an application system that supports the planning, control and monitoring of production, as well as the provision and use of real-time data on the entire production process, and thus a rapid response capability in the event of deviations.
The MES enables the integration of production processes into the company’s ERP system by connecting the automation systems and directly supporting employees in manual production processes.
The German terms Produktionsleitsystem or Fertigungssteuerungssystem are often used synonymously.
