TH OPC Server DP

PROFIBUS Diagnosis Information Integrated into Automation Systems

In combination with the xEPI, the TH OPC Server DP enables permanent monitoring of multi-master and multi-strand systems as well as alerting in case of failures. Users are provided with diagnosis information on PROFIBUS network stations. Via OPC standard, client applications can access information on failed devices, master system status and device diagnoses.

This information can be integrated into every OPC-compatible software for the purposes of maintenance, alerting and production data acquisition. Diagnosis messages, alarms and network status information can be saved and used as alarm history or for SAP maintenance (PM module).

In connection with active network components (such as Diagnosis Repeater, DP/PA Link), the TH OPC Server DP also enables continuous monitoring of bus physics. "Listening" to cyclic I/O data transfer to the slaves allows implementation of monitor functions and data logging in an easy way.

By using GSD files of the devices in the network, users are provided with efficient, high-performance diagnosis in plaintext.
A graphical configurator enables comfortable configuration of the TH OPC Server DP. Users can configure OPC tag names in a customized way, thus mapping their plant view or identification system.

This provides a consistent, uniform view on all devices in the PROFIBUS network for servicing and maintenance, even if different control system suppliers or system families are integrated in a company network. The use of Ethernet to transfer xEPI data as well as TH OPC Server DP scalability to up to 256 PROFIBUS strands enable implementation of plant-wide diagnosis systems.

TH OPC Server DP Short Description

  • TH OPC Server DP for xEPI
  • Monitoring of all communicating slaves and identification of failed slaves (multi-master functionality)
  • Diagnosis messages in plaintext as OPC alert
  • Current physical network status through evaluation of Diagnosis Repeater or DP/PA Links
  • Parallel reading of slave I/O data as OPC tags
  • OPC Data Access 3.0 and Alarm & Event 1.1
  • Reading and writing of parameters
  • Flexible configuration of OPC tag names, e.g. by using plant identifcation or structure
  • Connection of up to 256 PROFIBUS strands per TH OPC Server DP via xEPI enabled
